We are firmly committed to reforming the African Union to transform it into a more effective, accountable, and responsive institution—one capable of delivering on the aspirations of Agenda 2063 and addressing the evolving challenges facing our continent.
These comprehensive reforms are designed to strengthen institutional efficiency, ensure sustainable financing, streamline decision-making processes, and revitalize critical AU organs including the Pan-African Parliament and the African Court of Justice. Additionally, we are enhancing the AU's governance, peace, and security frameworks to maintain relevance in the face of shifting global dynamics and emerging conflicts.

As Chair, I convened the Inaugural Virtual Meeting of the Ad Hoc Oversight Committee of Heads of State and Government on AU Institutional Reforms. This landmark gathering brought together key stakeholders from the African Union Commission, the High-Level Panel of Eminent Experts, and Member States to review progress, guide the finalization of reforms, and establish strategic priorities ahead of the Special Summit in Luanda, Angola, scheduled for November 26th, 2025.
